"It’s difficult to fully sum up the impact of seeing Hamlet 2 for the first time. It’s one of a superior complex of five Gozo holiday farmhouses set in (naturally enough) a hamlet in Ghasri.

The owner/developer had a vision for this place. By considering the island’s attraction as a wonderful year-round destination the farmhouse has been transformed into a grand summer and winter retreat.

Under floor heating and a log burner create cosiness during the cooler months. And the outdoor pool actually meanders into the house to form an indoor pool heated throughout the winter months. It’s clever practicality mixed with classy execution with an end result that resembles your own personal spa.

The location of this luxury Gozo holiday farmhouse is nothing short of superb with panoramic valley and countryside views. A communal mini-gym and sauna are the icing on the cake. Property Details:

Ground Floor:

Step inside Hamlet 2’s front door and you’re immediately into a wide bright space of lime sandstone. Glass doors lead to the indoor pool. Beyond this, through large arched glass windows, the pool makes its way outdoors.

To the right of the indoor pool, more glass doors lead to the lounge and ensure the whole living area is bathed in light.

The lounge’s home entertainment system (flat-screen TV DVD player cable TV wireless internet and PlayStation) offers plenty of diverting ways to take a break from the sun while a spacious well-equipped kitchen caters for the most adventurous holiday cook.

Bedroom 1 is also on the ground floor with a double bed en-suite shower room and flat screen TV.

Completing the ground floor is a separate WC.

First Floor:

A stone staircase brings you to the first floor and 3 additional bedrooms. Bedroom 2 has a double bed. Bedroom 3 has twin beds and bedroom 4 has twin beds a lovely tiled floor throughout and an en-suite shower room.

There’s also a spacious modern family bathroom.

The fully equipped kitchen, comfortable practical furniture, and air-conditioning throughout, makes for an easy to manage self-catering holiday. At the back of the property a private pool with a large patio complete with sun decks and a BBQ area looks onto miles of uninterrupted undulating valleys and spectacular sunsets.

Elegantly furnished, in neutral colours and with understated lighting, the good sized rooms are designed to complement the peaceful and laid back ambiance of the surrounding countryside. The main feature of the property however is the swimming pool which winds its way into the living room from the large patio at the back of the property.

Besides the luxury of indoor swimming, the sparkling reflection of the water gives a spectacular ambiance throughout the spacious open plan ground floor. The indoor part of the pool is separated by thick glass and heated in the cooler months from middle of October to end of May to allow the visitor the luxury of a swim, throughout the year.

This, coupled with under floor heating throughout the property, and the built in fireplace, makes the property perfect for a romantic break even during the mild Gozo winters when, with its green terraced hills and long sunny periods, Gozo is never more beautiful.

For the fitness minded the property also enjoys the additional facilities for a communal mini-gym and sauna making the property perfect for a group with mixed tastes.

Terrace doors lead to an extended patio with barbeque. The outdoor pool also has a Jacuzzi. Add the glorious views and the peaceful tranquillity and you might just find that spending the day at your Gozo holiday home is every bit as appealing as heading out to explore.

If you take the Victoria-Gharb road to the Aqueduct and fork right you will find the smallest village on the island nestled between the hills of iz-Zebbug and Ghammar.

The village of Ghasri sits amongst the fields and valleys of rural Gozo near to Victoria’s commanding Citadel and close to one of the best swimming spots on the island. Worthy of a stop is Tal Gordan a flat topped hill with an iconic lighthouse. At 180 metres above sea level the Lighthouse towers over the village and stands proudly on top of Gurdan Hill. Inaugurated in 1853 the Lighthouse’ beam could be seen as far as 50 kilometres away so affords a fantastic 360 degree view when you get there. It’s a must for ramblers.

From Ghasri village square a road leads to the fabulous valley of Wied l-Ghasri 2.3km away from your Gozo holiday farmhouse. The Wied l-Ghasri area is a marvellous place for country walks or rewarding cycle rides especially in winter and spring. The valley ends at the sea wedged between high cliffs where a secluded inlet makes an ideal spot for swimming snorkelling and together with the sea surrounding it a very popular spot for diving.

On the way be sure to stop at the charming old chapel dedicated to the patronage of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The two shallow bays of Xwejni and Qbajjar are both 4.1 Km away. Next to each other they have small pebbly beaches and rocky stretches that lead to clear blue water. Excellent for swimming they are enjoyed by locals and visitors alike and are popular with divers especially beginners. You’ll also find a few fishing boats here and a couple of bars and restaurants on the sea front.

The feast of Ghasri is celebrated on the first or second Sunday in June and is dedicated to Corpus Christi. Victoria has two big feasts one in the third week of July and the other on 15 August.

The closest beaches are just 7 km away and there is also a food store 800 meters from the property. The closest Restaurant is Ta Salvina a 1 km walk. The capital Victoria is 3.5 km away.

The 308 bus will bring you to the centre of Victoria where you will find a wide range of shops cafes bars and restaurants - and a wealth of history.
