"Just pulling up outside the heavy wrought iron gates of Mariantonia is enough to get you excited. Step through them and you’ll find a long driveway sweeping down towards the gardens and the magnificent views beyond.
The gardens are vast a maze of stone walls balconies and terraces with a pool and Jacuzzi at their heart and surrounded by trees. Just soaking it all in is like stepping into the pages of Hello magazine.
It’s all the hard work of Marianne and her husband who tend the gardens every day in the summer months. The house itself is on one level. Finished with traditional stone, it is bright and airy with a contemporary feel.

Ground floor:
Enter this Gozo holiday villa’s double doors and you’ll find a spacious living and dining area. Through a stone archway, a round atrium connects the remaining living accommodation including a fully equipped kitchen and 3 bedrooms.
The master bedroom is bright and substantial with a double bed and contemporary en suite shower room. A wide tiled reception room features leather lounge seats and the room leads to a stone balcony with glorious garden and countryside views.
Bedroom 2 has two single beds and a lovely spacious en-suite bathroom.
Bedroom 3 has 3 single beds and is ideal for a family with children. There is a well-furnished family shower room adjacent.
A z-bed accommodates an additional 2 children making this Gozo holiday villa ideal for a large family.
All rooms have ceiling fans.
Outdoors:
The pool Jacuzzi and terrace enjoy privacy in a peaceful countryside atmosphere. A barbecue on the garden terrace lets you dine al fresco and enjoy the exceptional views from the rustic informality of a classic stone table and benches.
Qala
Qala is on the eastern most edge of Gozo. Its name meaning ‘port’ most likely refers to the bay nearby and the popular swimming area of Hondoq ir-Rummien. Mriantoni is on route to this bay just 2.1km away. Next closest is Dahlet Qorrot Bay (1.5km).
Qala Belvedere is a must-visit vantage point that offers stunning views across the sea to Malta and the tiny island of Comino. For the very best views of all head to the small courtyard of the church Il-Madonna tal-Blat (Saint Mary of the Rocks). The ancient history of this settlement dates back to around the 1650s.
Mariantonia is a close 300 metres walk from Qala’s main village square with its welcoming atmosphere and variety of pubs and restaurants. Zeppis pub is a popular choice and hangout for locals and guests. The owner Sonia is a great host and holds regular live music nights. Dbar is popular as a bistro-style pub and you’ll find more restaurants worth sampling in and around the square. There are a number of local shops here too.
