Isola Bella - by Jules

“Walking through the front door, I feel the welcome and strong presence of “home”. Light from the lounge and pool terrace fill the farmhouse, highlighting it’s local limestone and wooden ceiling beams. I feel comfortable the minute I walk in. Past the stairs into the lounge is an eclectic mix of stylish contemporary country style furnishings. The kitchen has a Mediterranean cottage finish in cream painted wood. All blends so well in a superbly furnished home.

Double terrace doors reflect a peaceful scene of outdoor terrace and pool, surrounded by a pretty local stone wall. A lovely base to spend the day by the pool, dining with the help of a charcoal BBQ.

The 4 bedrooms are spread over a first and second floor. There is bonus for the 2 double bedrooms as they have a balcony overlooking the pool. A great way to relax with a glass of wine……..or two.

For those who are looking for a comfortable blend of contemporary and traditional cottage style comfort, this hits the mark. 100% Stylish”. Jules

Ground floor:

Enter the farmhouse and you are in a welcoming hall of local stone. Pass a small arch window you glimpse the kitchen and arrive under a stone arch in the lounge. This is well furnished and combined with a dining table. A wood burning stove is also available and a feature for those cooler winter evenings.

Another stone arch provides access to a well-equipped, pretty kitchen. A family bathroom is also located on the ground floor.

First floor:

Stone stairs lead to 3 bedrooms on the first floor. The first has a double four poster bed with a balcony overlooking the pool and the other 2 have twin beds. All have en-suite shower rooms.

Second Floor:

Bedroom 4 has a double bed and balcony overlooking the pool. There is en-suite shower room.

Double terrace doors lead to a private outdoor pool and terrace. You will find a dining area immediately through the door under a stone archway with a built in charcoal BBQ beside it. The terrace is enclosed by a pretty stone wall with sunbeds around the pool.

Xaghra Village

There is a great selection of cafes, bars and restaurants and a buzzing atmosphere in Xaghra Village Square, 1.2 km away from property. Nearest supermarket is 1.3km and nearest beach 2.5km.

There is a bus stop literally 50 meters away from property. Catch bus No. 307.

Offering a wealth of rich historical heritage, Xagħra is a particularly picturesque village encircled by the lush valleys of Ramla, Ta' l-Għejjun and Marsalforn and by three beautiful bays - Rambla (considered Gozo’s best beach), Għajn Barrani and Marsalforn.
History shows Xaghra has been settled since the earliest times and possesses one of the most extraordinary structures on the Island - the Ġgantija temple complex. Consisting of two Neolithic stone temples dating back to 3600BC, these gargantuan items are amongst the oldest freestanding stone buildings in the world and as such hold UNESCO World Heritage status.

Close-by is the restored eighteenth-century windmill, Ta’ Kola, with its original mechanisms and miller’s living quarters on view while for something quite different, the Pomskizillious Museum of Toys displays a range of antique toys and a waxwork of artist and rhyme-writer, Edward Lear.

Perhaps a more surprising village attraction is its caves! Hidden beneath two private houses in Xaghra’s residential streets you find Xerri’s Grotto and Ninu’s Cave; while just outside the town, overlooking Ramla Bay, is the legendary ‘Calpyso’s Cave’- supposedly home of mythical nymph, Calypso, from Homer's Odyssey.

Xaghra’s first parish church, dedicated to St Anthony Abbott, was originally a medieval chapel that later gained parish status in 1688 and still stands today. The parish, however, is now served by the much larger Basilica within the central square (dedicated to the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary). The 8th September marks the annual feast day and, unusually, serves a dual purpose: not only does it honour the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, but the date also marks "Il-Festa tal-Vittorja" (The Victory Feast) in memory of the Maltese victory under the Knights of St. John over the Ottoman Turks in the Great Siege of 1565.
