“Sunflower is one of a private suite of four farmhouses, all secluded and located in a quiet spot on the outskirts of Ghasri village.
Enter this Gozo villa under a stone archway and you meet a large reception room, elegantly furnished. Although it remains an outside space, it offers a stone roof enclosure and welcoming spot. An ideal retreat to read a book and take a break from the sun.
The large wooden from doors open to the hall and ground floor where you will find all living amenities. “Quirky” is my first impression.
It is not the “quirky” that actually draws my attention. Beyond the lounge terrace doors, I see a showcase of Sunflower's gigantic rural setting. An idyllic picture with a large private pool, a pretty shrub terrace and uninterrupted countryside views stretching past Jordan Hill. Nothing but the serene flow of rural landscape.
I could imagine this being a tranquil family “hideaway” where hours of fun can be enjoyed in the outside space when taking timeout from exploring the island”. Jules
All living accommodation is on the ground floor which is often a benefit to those with disabilities or young children whose supervision may need a watchful eye.
All rooms lead off the hall. The living area combines an open plan kitchen, dining table, and lounge with sofas.
The lounge faces the rear of Sunflower with terrace doors to the pool terrace.
There are 3 bedrooms. The first bedroom has a double bed and en suite bathroom. Bedrooms 2 and 3 have twin beds and use of a family bathroom. This also serves the living area.
All rooms have air-conditioning on a pay as you use basis and operated by euro coins.
Terrace doors lead to the outdoor pool of generous size. The surrounding terrace with shrubs is also a gutsy size complemented by a dining table, chairs and sun loungers. There is also a feature stone table and benches. Very handy if the wind gains momentum. The BBQ is also built-in stone. The views are panoramic and stretch beyond the Jordan Lighthouse to the sea.
There is an external stone staircase that leads up the roof where you can enjoy a great vantage point.

If you take the Victoria-Gharb road to the Aqueduct and fork right you will find the smallest village on the island nestled between the hills of iz-Zebbug and Ghammar.
The village of Ghasri sits amongst the fields and valleys of rural Gozo near to Victoria’s commanding Citadel and close to one of the best swimming spots on the island. Worthy of a stop is Tal Gordan a flat topped hill with an iconic lighthouse. At 180 metres above sea level the Lighthouse towers over the village and stands proudly on top of Gurdan Hill. Inaugurated in 1853 the Lighthouse’ beam could be seen as far as 50 kilometres away so affords a fantastic 360 degree view when you get there. It’s a must for ramblers.
From Ghasri village square a road leads to the fabulous valley of Wied l-Ghasri 2.3km away from your Gozo holiday farmhouse. The Wied l-Ghasri area is a marvellous place for country walks or rewarding cycle rides especially in winter and spring. The valley ends at the sea wedged between high cliffs where a secluded inlet makes an ideal spot for swimming snorkelling and together with the sea surrounding it a very popular spot for diving.
On the way be sure to stop at the charming old chapel dedicated to the patronage of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The two shallow bays of Xwejni and Qbajjar are both 4.1 Km away. Next to each other they have small pebbly beaches and rocky stretches that lead to clear blue water. Excellent for swimming they are enjoyed by locals and visitors alike and are popular with divers especially beginners. You’ll also find a few fishing boats here and a couple of bars and restaurants on the sea front.
