Veduta - by Jules

“A little taste of paradise tucked in a rural setting on the outskirts of Ghasri. A lovely furnished farmhouse that is bright, spacious and homely. The pool terrace is an idyllic Mediterranean picture surrounded by palm trees and countryside as its close neighbour.

This farmhouse has been tastefully restored, retaining many original features, whilst comfortable and well furnished. The living space is particularly bright and airy with a homely finish. Walking out to the pool terrace, there is a majestic aura. The terrace is enclosed by a beautiful family of mature palm trees creating a peaceful ambiance. Outdoor dining furniture and sunbeds are perfect to spend many lazy days just soaking up the ambiance.

Veduta is an ideal opportunity for a family or small group looking for a tranquil base for their holiday on Gozo.”. Jules

GHASRI VILLAGE

Ghasri (pronounced “asri” on the west side of Gozo and with a population of 521. This makes it the smallest village by headcount. In contrast, it covers a large area and lies between the Hills of Zebbug and Ghammar and reached by road from Victoria to Gharb. The village is close to Gharb, Kercem and the capital, Victoria.

The Gurden Lighthouse on Gurden hill was the first Lighthouse built on Gozo dating back to 1853. It rises 180 metres above sea level. At the top of the steep Gurden Hill, you have fabulous panoramic views of the island. This attracts hikers who enjoy the steep challenge to the top. The lighthouse was instrumental in defending the Maltese islands during World War II as its radar was able to anticipate enemy attacks early.

From the village square, you can follow the road to a lovely valley, Wied L Ghasri. Ideal for country walks and cycling, particularly in spring and winter. The valley leads to the sea and a secluded inlet wedged between high cliffs. The inlet is popular for swimming, snorkeling and diving.

The farmhouse is a short drive from several beaches. Dwerja Bay is close by, together with the underwater remains of the famous Azure Window – a natural arch with a table-like rock that used to feature over the sea. It has been featured in a number of films, including Clash of the Titans (1981) but unfortunately, dissolved into the sea a few years ago. Today, the location remains a haven for many divers. Dwejra bay has dramatic seascapes and a rocky shoreline renowned for its geology, wildlife and fascinating underwater scenery.
The popular and lively beach of Malsalforn Bay is a short drive on the north side of Gozo. Restaurants and bars surround the turquoise bay serving fresh local cuisine. Look out for the great selection of freshly caught local fish It is also a short drive to another popular resort, Xlendi Bay, on the south side of the island.

There is a local Supermarket within walking distance, located off Ghasri’s main square.

The nearest restaurants and bars are in close proximity, located in the village of Gharb. Jeffrey’s and Salvina's are two well-known eateries. Victoria is close by (2.9 km or 6 minutes by car) with many restaurants, cafes, shops and bars. There is also a frequent bus service from Ghasri to Victoria (No. 308) and surrounding villages.
