To arrive on Malta’s smaller sister island, you need to travel approximately 17 miles north of the airport (40 minutes by car) where you find Cirkewwa Ferry Terminal. 

The service transferring both vehicles and passengers is run by ‘Gozo Channel Ferries.’

Operating continuously around the clock every day of the year, the service normally leaves every half hour, with crossings more frequent at busy times.

What is Gozo’s Public transport service?

Malta and Gozo have a good, efficient and reliable bus system which is operated by the Government.

The buses are usually clean, tidy and with air conditioning.Fares are cheap with a single ticket ranging from €2 to €3 depending on the time of year you are travelling.

You can also buy an ‘Explore’ card which allows unlimited journeys over four or seven days.For regular journeys these work out very cost effective.

Are there taxis or Uber on Gozo Island?

Gozo has traditional taxis which can be booked in advance or hailed on the street, and Uber and Bolt which can be booked via the App.

There are plenty of local licensed taxis available. These are white vehicles clearly marked as ‘Taxi’.  There is a fixed fare system so, ask the driver ‘How much?’ and they will be able to tell you.  

The key benefit of hailing app companies Uber and Bolt has proven a popular and cost-effective way of getting around Gozo. The app can identify your location.
