Sleeps 8 (+2)4 Bedrooms
A fabulous holiday home superior on every count. Over 300 years old Penmon has been expertly renovated to reflect the tranquillity of Gozo.
Step in the front door and you’ll find an old church pew set in a traditional stone arched hall that is bright and welcoming. I wouldn’t say it typifies the farmhouse (I didn’t find any other church trappings) but it does set the scene wonderfully.
Ahead through double glass doors is an extended open plan living area designed with an eye for real comfort. The traditional stonework blends elegantly with the modern kitchen and surrounding furnishings.
There is a dining room and two lounge areas once of which has lovely views of the pretty lagoon pool and terrace through its double doors. This is the only Gozo holiday farmhouse I’ve found so far with three lounges: the third is on the first floor leading to another welcoming outdoor terrace.
As for the pool itself? Well it’s an idyllic south-facing dream with a fixed open gazebo and a dining area that practically invites you not to bother exploring today and just relax instead.
Penmon is a beautiful Gozo family holiday home finished to a superb standard. It really is worth discovering for yourself. JULES
Bedrooms 1 and 2 are on the ground floor.
Both have a double bed and a well-designed shower room en-suite.
First floor
Bedroom 3 is a large double bedroom with a spacious en-suite shower room.
Bedroom 4 explains just how Penmon comes to sleep 10 - it has 5 beds!
3 single beds; the other is bunk beds.
It’s a room very well suited to a family with (lots of) children. There is even a T.V.
Ground floor
The first lounge area has traditional stone walls and ceiling (they’re wonderfully cooling in summer) and comfy leather sofas. The lounge opens out to a large dining area with an additional fridge that’s perfect for keeping cool drinks close at hand.
Opposite is a modern open plan state of the art kitchen well equipped for even the most adventurous self-caterer.
The second lounge adjacent has open views of the pool.
First floor
From the hall a stone staircase leads to the first floor where the landing forms a spacious and comfortable third lounge area with TV. From here a door leads to a second terrace with dining table furniture and sunbeds.
The pool cleverly uses a rock formation to create its lagoon-style feel. There’s a waterfall too.
A beautifully landscaped garden includes a fishpond. The terrace houses an outside shower which makes entering and leaving the pool blissfully simple.
Gharb
On the western side of Gozo Gharb is one of the island’s oldest villages. It is surrounded by two villages San Lawrenz and G'asri and the sea.
The closest beach - Dwejra - is just 2.5 km away. The nearest food store is a short drive (1.6 km) while the nearest restaurant Ta' Salvina is just seconds away. For a wider choice of restaurants head to St Lawrenz where Ta Jeffries Tatitas and Grazie Mille provide plenty of options. There is also a snack bar in Gharb’s main village square.
Victoria the island’s capital is just 3.5 km away by bus. Use service 312 from the stop a couple of hundred metres away from your Gozo holiday home.
