Boomerang - by Jules

“Nestled in a sweet alleyway, Boomerang’s small white front door made us wonder how much farmhouse you could possibly squeeze behind it? Well, let me tell you. Boomerang packs a massive punch beyond this “wee” front door. Secluded against a backdrop of peaceful and unobstructed valley scenes, in the village of Ghasri.

The hall is a charming picture of charasmatic limestone ceiling archways. These feature arches cleverly define the open space, flowing from hall to lounge.

I am envious of the contemporary and well equipped kitchen with a five-burner hob sitting on an island. Detailed arcitecture means you are standing behind the hob with a beautiful vision opposite. The lovely outside space. Miles of valley stream into the farmhouse from the terrace doors and lounge balcony. Perfectly adorned with shrubs, the well-furnished pool terrace has a clear glass railing running its entire length. This expertly marks its boundary with nature (without gatecrashing it!). A prime invitation for the entire Ghasri valley to jump into the pool.

A welcoming harmonious outdoor space extends to the indoor accommodation. Attention to detail means comfort, relaxation and a sheer haven. Don’t believe me? Discover this marvel for yourself – Jules

Ghasri Attractions:

Ġurdan Lighthouse:

A Gozitan landmark, Ta' Ġurdan Lighthouse rises 161 metres above sea level. This was constructed in 1851 and is still functioning. Originally, the lighthouse had 21 purpose-built oil lamps, seven on each of its three sides. The brass reflectors were silver plated, which in addition to a system of large lenses, made the beam visible a full 38 miles away.
The beam is less dramatic today both because the intensity has been reduced (due to improved maritme naviation technology that makes it less necessary) and because of light pollution from increased street lighting.

The walk up to the lighthouse is quite steep but is a lovely with breathtaking views. If the lighthouse attendant is around, you may be able to take a look inside, and perhaps climb the spiral staircase to the top. Even without him, you can walk around the flat top of the hill amid the ruins of a colonial military observation post, and take in the stunning 360-degree panorama.

Wied l-Għasri

Wied l-Għasri, the Għasri Valley, is a fjord-looking tiny beach wedged between high cliffs and is a marvellous place for a country walks or bike ride, and extremely popular with divers who like to explore the underwater caves. The very narrow and secluded bay is also a haven for those who seek a quiet bathing area

The valley begins at Ta' Dbieġi Hill before winding down through the village of l-Għasri, and on between iż-Żebbuġ and Ta' Ġurdan Hill to meet the sea between impressive cliffs. Wied il-L-Għasri is very popular with divers who like to explore the surrounding underwater caves.
Where the valley meets the sea is an interesting cave with a shaft dug right up to the top of the steep cliffs above. This used to contain a rig of ropes and buckets to bring up seawater to fill the neighbouring saltpans.

The nearest Supermarket - the Lighthouse, is 200 metres from Boomerang. The closest cafes, bars, and restaurants are in the neighbouring village of Gharb, approximately 1.5km away. You will find several eateries. In the village of San Lawrenz there is also a restaurant in addition to one of Gozo's five-star hotels.

The closest beach in Marsalforn.

You have a bus stop just 50m from the house which is very handy for catching the bus into the capital of Victoria and surrounding villages.
